How to Remove Background Noise from Any Audio with AI

Hiss, hum, computer fans, air conditioning and room tone can ruin an otherwise clean recording. This AI denoiser runs on our servers, analyses the noise profile of your audio, and removes it while preserving the music, vocals and instruments you want to keep. Two modes cover the two most common cases — music and voice — and an A/B comparison with a live frequency spectrum lets you hear and see exactly what was removed.

  1. 1

    Upload your audio file

Drag an MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A or MP4 file onto the upload area, or click to browse. Files up to 500 MB are accepted. Your file is uploaded to our cloud storage for processing.

  2. 2

    Choose a denoise mode

Pick Music to preserve instruments and stereo field while removing hiss and hum — best for songs, live recordings and field recordings. Pick Vocal for aggressive speech cleanup on podcasts, interviews and voiceover, where background music is not needed.

  3. 3

    Run the AI denoiser

Press Run AI Denoise. One credit is deducted, and the file is sent to our GPU denoiser. Processing typically takes 30 to 60 seconds depending on length and mode.

  4. 4

A/B compare with the frequency spectrum

Once the result is ready, click A · Original and B · Denoised to flip between the two versions at the same playback position. The frequency spectrum shows both curves at once — the gap between them at each frequency is the noise energy that was removed.

  5. 5

    Download the cleaned file

Press Download to save the denoised MP3 to your device. Every result is also saved in your history, so you can come back later and reload it without spending another credit.

AI Audio Denoise Frequently Asked Questions

Which audio formats can I upload?

MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A and MP4 are supported, up to 500 MB per file. MP4 files are accepted and the audio track is extracted automatically.

What is the difference between Music mode and Vocal mode?

Music mode uses spectral gating to suppress steady noise (hiss, hum, static, room tone) while preserving the full stereo field, instruments and vocals — ideal for songs and live recordings. Vocal mode uses the DeepFilterNet speech model to aggressively clean a voice recording, and it will also remove any background music. Choose Music for songs, Vocal for podcasts and interviews.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

Yes. Unlike our browser-based tools, AI denoise runs on our servers, because the deep learning model cannot run efficiently in a browser. Files are uploaded to private cloud storage, processed, and the result is returned to you as a signed download link.

How much does one denoise cost?

One credit per denoise, regardless of file length (up to 500 MB). New accounts get 2 free credits on signup, no credit card required.

Why does the denoised version sound quieter than the original?

Denoising removes energy — the noise is real audio energy, so overall loudness drops slightly after processing. Use the level-matched A/B compare on the page to judge the cleanup fairly, and if you want the output loudness to match the original exactly, run a loudness normalisation pass in your DAW after download.

Can I re-listen to a file I processed earlier?

Yes. Every denoise is saved in your history. Click Load on any history entry to bring it back into the A/B player without spending another credit. The last session also restores automatically when you return to the page.

What does the frequency spectrum show?

The spectrum plots the amount of energy at each frequency, from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The orange curve (A · Original) is the raw spectrum, and the cyan curve (B · Denoised) is the cleaned spectrum. The vertical gap between the two curves at any frequency is the noise energy that was removed at that band — a larger gap means more noise was suppressed there.

How is this different from the browser-based Vocal Denoise tool?

The browser Vocal Denoise tool runs entirely on your device, applies a gate / compressor / EQ chain, and is best for quick touch-ups with no upload. This AI Denoise tool runs a deep learning model on our servers, produces cleaner results on tough noise, and includes a frequency-spectrum view of exactly what was removed. Use the browser tool for quick free jobs, the AI tool when quality matters.

Do I need a plugin or an app?

No. Everything runs in your browser and on our servers — there is nothing to install, and it works on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS and Android.
